Michael Haydn was the younger brother of Franz Joseph and a church musician. This mass was Michael’s final work, written for the Salzburg Cathedral Choristers. Scored for three-part treble chorus, soloists, and keyboard or chamber orchestra, the nearly twenty-minute long work is a fine addition to the repertoire.
